Google Updates

  • New ‘get latest’ results refresh button – Google now recommends that you should refresh your search results to get the most recent and latest results. Google will now notice that you have gone for a little while from your search and that there may be more recent search results available (or maybe ads they want to show for that query since you stepped away). So they have a new feature called get latest which will allow you to refresh the search only to get recent and updated searches.
  • New user interface in Search for Google Posts – The search giants have recently been testing multiple variations of how Google Posts show up in their Google search results. For about a week or so, they have been testing a new look for these Google Posts. You may have also noticed within the past week showing either a link to view these Google Posts, a carousel slider, a box grid layout of many Google Posts to view.
  • New tool for AdWords– Google announced they have a new tool for AdWords that allows you to quickly import your Google AdWords data into Google Sheets. The new tool on Google AdWords for Google Sheets will make it easy for you to create, run, and update your AdWords reports within Google Sheets.
  • Data disappears on Google Maps Timeline – Google Maps Timeline lets you keep track of where you’ve been by using your device data on the iPhone or Android, using Google Maps and other methods to keep track of where you’ve been so you can look back at your precious journeys. But for the past few weeks many users have been complaining that their data in the Google Maps Timeline disappeared. However, users now will notice data backfilling in again, it may not be all but they say that some should starting to notice.

Bing Updates

  • Disallowed recreational guns & gun accessories – Bing has announced that from the beginning of July, they will no longer allow ads for recreational guns such as BB guns, paintball guns, or air rifles. Also, they will no longer allow ads for accessories or devices that can be attached to weapons, used to create ammunition, or aid in the reloading process.

They already disallowed ads that feature firearms, integral weapon parts, and ammunition. This includes any additional weapon-related products that will help bring more consistency to their ad network. They say the change will also help reduce confusion about products that is advertised on Bing.

Many of the recreational type guns such as air rifles almost look exactly like a real guns and consumers may be led to click on offers that are different than they were expecting. Furthermore they also mention that the change responds to the feedback from their Bing Ads publishers who have similar policies in place.
