Google removes live coverage help docs – They have removed the search help documents for the live coverage carousel. This was launched in 2016 by Google as a pilot launch. A spokesman from Google mentions that the documents are currently still very limited, which means that it doesn’t make sense to have the documents public just yet.

Google My Business photos added to Google posts – Google automatically takes photos that you add to your Google My Business profile and creates Google Posts out of them. Although this new feature was released earlier this month, it seems that you cannot delete the Google Posts that were automatically created.

Tile-like buttons being testing by Google – They are testing a new style for the buttons within the local pack results. But, it is not clear whether it is a bug but some users have spotted this and posted this screen shot on social media, where the buttons look like tiles. There are buttons for details, website, call, directions, photos and more.

Google Images testing Paginated Results – The search giant is testing image search for mobile searches, where they use image search to jump from page to page of the search results instead of the infinite scroll.

Local packs ‘Choose area’ Feature is officially live – Although Google has been testing this feature for some time, which is an option to select or “choose” your area or location when a local pack comes up in the search results is now live. You should be able to see the ‘choose area’ link for local pack results, which then Google will bring up locations it thinks you are near, to narrow down the selection.

Google reminds you to fix internal links that 404 – They have posted on social media for Web Masters, mentioning that they will be reminding you, when you get 404 error reports, you should make sure your internal links are not causing the 404 error. This means that you should be making sure that the internal links are not 404ing to a page that does not exist.

They also mention that returning a 404 result code for pages that you removed is fine. If you do this, this is not going to result in your site crashing and burning in Google search but it could be a missed opportunity for you to send your signals to pages that exist. So they recommend that you do check your 404s and making sure they are not linking internally to pages that do not exist.
