Google Doodle celebrates Earth Day with ethologist and conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall

On the 21st of April, Google Doodle celebrated Earth Day by recruiting renowned ethologist and conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall to deliver a message of hope about the planet’s future in a video. In the video that was produced for Google’s Earth Day Doodle, Dr. Goodall says that every single individual matters and that they can make somewhat of an impact on the planet every single day, and that they have a choice as to what kind of difference they’re going to make.

Goodall thinks she was born loving animals, and that her whole childhood was about animals. Loving animals led Goodall to Gombe, Tanzania, where she began studying chimpanzees. Goodall’s research with chimpanzees said that it had rocked the scientific world and redefined the relationship between humans and the rest of the animal kingdom.

It was said that Earth Day started in 1970 and now has become a movement that has inspired millions of people from around the world to work together and create a sustainable future. Dr. Goodall said to Google that there is still so much in the world worth fighting for, and that there is so much that is beautiful with many wonderful people working to reverse the harm and help protect species and their environments.

Google rolls out the broad core algorithm update

The search engine giant posted on Twitter that they have released a broad core algorithm update. They also mention that they routinely do updates throughout the year and referenced the communication from the previous core update.

Google explains in a statement made previously that each day, they release one or more changes that is designed to improve Google results. Google says that a few of them are focused around specific improvements and some are for the broad changes.

The core search updates initially happened several times per year and while some sites may note drops or gains, there is not one thing a site can do to tweak its rankings around these updates. Therefore, you should continue to improve your overall site quality and the next time they run these updates, in theory your website will get rewarded. Google mention that the pages which was previously under-rewarded, will see a benefit from these core updates.

As with any update, there are sites that may see drops or gains. Google says that there is nothing wrong with pages that may now perform less well. In its place, the changes to their systems are benefiting pages that were previously under-rewarded. There is no actual fix for pages that may perform less well, but to remain focused on building great content to push forward the page.
