Top 5 ways to optimise your content

It is important to have good attention grabbing on-page content when aiming to attract more viewers to your website. We have compiled 5 ways to keep the page content interesting and presentable to your target audience.

Headlines – Having a catchy but relatable headline is vital as that’s what will peak the readers interest and make them want to read. Use of other formatting such as sub-headlines and headings can amplify content as it helps search engines figure out the important keywords in your page.

There are two ways to make a headline. First create a headline which is eye catching enough to persuade viewers to visit your page and secondly include keywords and phrases you want to optimise the page for. This will allow search engines to align your website with search keywords.

Images – Using images on your website makes your website more aesthetically pleasing to potential users. There are two things you could do to provide useful information about images and photographs to search engines. One is giving the image a relevant file name, secondly is using alt tags, which are known as snippets, which allow you to tag each image with a short piece of text which you can provide.

Search engine bots can pick up on this, the information for an image is stores in the HTML of the web page.

Title tag – This is what shows up on the tab of the browser when you have the page left open and its also what is displayed as the headline (or blue link) when your page is listed in the search results page.

However it is only 75 characters so best to choose wisely. You also have a limited amount of characters when writing a meta description for your desired page, which shows up beneath the title tag and the URL in your listings on the search results pages. Make sure you add the main information to what you wants to say and keep it brief and to include target keywords.

Header tags – This is a great tool to help spot which keywords and phrases are most important for search engines when allowing you to create your own headlines of different sizes. So be sure to make use of these.

Links – When creating the SEO content for your page or website it is advisable to link to your other pages as well.  You can use the anchor text to provide search engines with clues about the keywords. This would support and guide many visitors to find your content.
